Update: I grew up in Madison Hgts and we used to go to the Galaxy and Van Dyke most. The Van Dyke was cool because it used to be
part of a whole complex called the Butterfly. They had go-carts, batting cages, driving range, and an arcade. You could go make a whole
day of it and top it off with a movie at the drive-in. What I remember most about the Van Dyke is the screen. On the back of it it had a
big painting of a baseball, soccer ball, golf ball and other stuff I cant remember. I'm sure they had all that because it was part of the sports
complex. The Butterfly is still there but of course the Van Dyke is not. I miss that old place. I dont remember what movies I seen there,
I just remember having a good time whenever I went. Like today, it's never about the movie for me... It's all about the drive-in.

Update: I grew up in the in a house directly across the road from the Van Dyke. That road was Van Dyke, hence the name. I was about
6 yrs. old in 1960, and I remember spending many summer evenings there. The back of the screen that faced Van Dyke Rd. was painted
forest green until it became part of the sports complex that is there now. I do remember seeing the steel screen supports twisted and
damaged from a tornado but dont know the exact date. Thanks for the memories in mom and dads 1955 Buick.

Update: The disassembled Van Dyke screen tower is still laying in a nice pile, on-site, waiting to be resurrected. (Michigandriveins.com 02/02/03)
Update: I grew up in Centerline at 10 Mile and Van Dyke area. We would all load up into the 1971 Ford Ranch Wagon put the
middle seat down and away we would go. We saw such movies as Dumbo, Mary Poppins and many more I can not remember, I
also saw Star Wars and Silver Streak there when I was older. We moved to Imlay City when I was 12, but my Grandma still lived
in Warren so we went by often and I remember when we went by and the screen was going down a sad day for sure!

Update: We used to go to this drive in a lot in the 80's, as it had three screens, and you could watch whatever movies you wanted!
We sure miss the old days! (Dennis 07/02/06)
