News Article: New Dort at Flint Puts Big Airer on New Site - Flint, Mich. - The New Dort Drive-In, opened the
day after Christmas, was constructed to replace another major airer of the same name. The older 1,342-car Dort,
built by William Oleksyn on the bypass highway on the outskirts of town, was closed and dismantled about a year
ago because the site had become unsatisfactory because of population growth. The New Dort, built on acreage
projected to serve the expanding second Motor City for years to come, was built by William Oleksyn and Peter
Swartz, and is said to be "one of the finest and most completely equipped theatres in the country."
Major equipment installed by National Theatre Supply Co. through Clarence Williamson, manager at Detroit,
included three National 35/70mm projectors, Constellation arc lamps, Simplex-Altec sound system and in-a-car
speakers, Selby tower and fencing, General Register admission control system, and Mills & Co. electrical sign.
The tower work by Selby Industries of Akron represented advanced applications of tower erection and painting.
