Outdoor Moovies is weekly public access cable television program
produced by pioneer drive-in documenter Darryl Burgess.
Outdoor Moovies features footage of both current and deceased drive-in's,
usually accompanied by the soundtrack of vintage intermission spots.
You can also see all of your favorite intermission reels, including the classic
Dancing Hot Dogs, the visiting Martian, and many great old drive-in movie trailers.
Darryl, who is a major contributor to this site,
had the foresight to film and photograph many Michigan drive-ins in the 1980's
and early 1990's, long before anyone else. Darryl is also a former employee
of the M-78 Drive-In, working there for several years until it closed in 1992.
When I ran across Outdoor Moovies on TV late one night in 1998, I was fascinated with the images
of old abandoned drive-in theaters. The show was to become the inspiration for this website.
The Outdoor Moovies archives contain extensive footage of many long gone
drive-ins, providing us the only images of many ozoners. Many thanks to Darryl for sharing
his priceless video collection.
So, grab yourself a coke and a hot buttered box of popcorn and tune in Tuesday nights
at midnight to Lansing public access channel 16 for Outdoor Moovies.
Update 4/27/13: Unfortunately, Outdoor Moovies is no longer on the air. However, we are happy to present a few selected
complete episodes here on the Outdoor Moovies Online page at Michigandriveins.com.
You can also view over 200 video clips from Darryl's vast archives of episodes on his Youtube page. Stay tuned, there's many more to come! On with the show!!................
