Update: There was another drive in theatre in Adrian just a mile east of the Sky named the Hilltop Drive in. It was at the southwest
corner of US 223 and Ogden Hwy and operated from 1948 to 1955, and is now displaced by the Palmyra speedway (a go cart track).
This was before my time as I was born in 1957, but from my understanding was a rather simple affair with a blowspeaker. The Sky
won out with its big 40 X 80 screen and in car speakers. (Dennis Gibbs 2/9/04)
Update: A recent site inspection by the Waterwinterwonderland.com crew revealed no remnants of the Hilltop Drive-In. The site is now
home to the Palmyra Sppeedway go-cart track. (Michigandriveins.com 3/5/04)
Update: I was born in 1951 and my family lived in Palmyra Mi. I don't remember any drive in at the Palmyra Speedway location. As mentioned I believe it was where state down farther on the S/W corner of Ogden and US 223. The opposite side of US 223. In fact where the parking area above the race track stood a 2 story skating rink, I believe called the Hilltop Skating Rink. I remember going there with my mother, family and friends. Next to that, east side was a white house. In it lived family friends Hazel and Scoop Bennett, who also managed the rink. So far I haven't located any pictures of the Hilltop or Lenawee drive in's.
