Status: Gone, site is now mini-golf? (Michigandriveins.com 1999)
Update: Hastings Drive-In was one driveway north of the mini-golf. The brick sign frame and small ticket booth were, last I knew, still there.
It closed in the late 70's sometime. (Les Hale 10/12/99)
Update: The driveway, brick marquee, and brick ticket booth remain. (Michigandriveins.com 6/10/02)
Update: The Hastings went X-rated in the late 70's making alot of the locals unhappy (but filling the lot). An anti-pornography religion based
pressure group had regular "revival" meetings about its status as a passion pit and about 1 hour after one nighttime meeting the screen tower
was destroyed by an arson fire. No prosecutions as far as I know but it seemed at the time as if the police knew who had done it but lacked
evidence or inclination to prosecute. Too bad, as the site was completely surrounded by tall trees and could not be seen by anyone that wasn't
a paying customer. After the heyday of X-rated films it might have become a family theater again; sigh.... I hope the perps feel guilty. I sure miss
the drive-ins that used to be everywhere. (UKNOHU@aol.com 3/15/00)
Update: The Hastings drive-in marquee, a roofless brick ticket booth, and the driveway remain. The driveway is used as an access road to
three homes built next to the vacant drive-in site. One of the home owners who also owns the drive-in property plans to demolish the ticket
booth soon. (Michigandriveins.com 6/9/02)
